STAGES OF THE
RETIREMENT OF MR DAVID ANTHONY JONES FRCS
AUGUST 2008
After 22 years as a Consultant I retired from surgical practise
and for the last 10 years I have worked as an expert witness.
Thanks to the kindness and support of the Legal Profession at all
levels I have greatly enjoyed this period of my carrier which is
now coming to a close.
With my impending retirement, I wish to advise you as follows:
Firstly, may I thank you for all your support over the years and
for providing me with clients on whom you wished to have expert
medical evidence. The schedule of my retirement, god willing, will
proceed along the following lines.
I will continue to examine Claimants until 31 December
2008 after which time I will not have the facility
for clinical examination available to me. It is important, therefore,
that you review any existing Claimants for whom you are relying
on my medical evidence and consider whether or not any further up
to date examination would be required. If such an examination is
required, please let me know urgently in order that I may allocate
an appropriate appointment prior to the end of this year.
I will remain available for other aspects of preparation for Court,
such as conferences, joint statements and appearances
at Court until March 2010. This would give a period
of over a year and a half from the present date.
I would urge you, therefore, to consider accelerating any cases
that may require a Court hearing and that would involve my expert
evidence. After 31 March 2010 I am unlikely
to be have the appropriate insurance cover in order to deal with
any matter on which I would have to give advice.
I have given a lot of consideration to the time scale and hope
you consider it is reasonable (bearing in mind that all good things
have to come to an end at some point!).
Again, may I thank you for your support over the years and your
kindness in referring cases to me.
Yours sincerely,
D Anthony Jones BSc MCh FRCS MAE
