The cottage (the white building on the left of the picture) is situated in a quiet side road away from the main traffic thoroughfare but still within walking distance of the town's main street with its shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Llandeilo has a host of shops and eateries all within 5 minutes stroll of Yr Hen Festri.

The area is rich in natural beauty, Welsh heritage and places of interest. On the doorstep is the lovely River Towy, Dynevor Park and Castle and Newton House. Within 10 miles you will find Aberglasney House and Gardens, the National Botanical Gardens of Wales, Dolaucothi Goldmines and Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn Castles.

Swansea and the Gower coast is 45 minutes away by car with lovely Hay-on-Wye 1 hour and 45 minutes away.

Llandeilo Fawr Flower and Music Festival 7.7.07 to 14.7.07

Dynevor Park and Dynevor Castle - A thousand years of Welsh history set in 450 acres of beautiful parkland with its 9th century castle, and Newton house - a magnificent 17th century residence.

National Botanical Garden of Wales - Home of the world's largest single-span glasshouse.

Aberglasney - Spectacular gardens set in the beautiful Towy valley, the gardens were lost until recently rediscovered and restored.

Heart of Wales Railway - One of the most scenic railway journeys in the UK, the Heart of Wales line runs from Swansea to Shrewsbury. Llandeilo railway station is just a short walk away. Llandrindod Wells is 1 hour and 40 minutes by train and Shrewsbury is 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Dolaucothi Gold Mines - These unique gold mines are set amid wooded hillsides overlooking the beautiful Cothi Valley.

Llandovery - Ancient market town with castle ruins on the Drover's Route.

Talley Abbey -Set in beautiful hills at the head of the Talley Lakes.

Llyn Brianne Reservoir - A man-made lake amidst pine covered hills, magnificent views with mountain roads.
